Fritz Haemmerle handily won the mayoral race over incumbent Rick Davis with nearly twice as many votes. Voters rejected the ban on plastic bags. In the one city council position vote, Pat Cooley won with 56% of all of the votes.
Join Company of Fools on Saturday, May 21 at 8:00pm for a very special evening with award-winning writer and director John Patrick Shanley. An accomplished writer and director, Shanley has written extensively for both stage and screen. His play , which opened off-Broadway in 2004,became the first of his works to transfer to Broadway and then to the big screen. Shanley’s screen adaptation of earned him 2009 Academy Award and Writers Guild Award nominations for best adapted screenplay. While on Broadway, won numerous awards including the Tony, New York Drama Critics Circle Award, The Drama League Award, the Drama Desk Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Shanley’s original screenplays include (for which he won an Oscar and a Writers Guild Award), and , which he also directed. was awarded the Special Jury Prize for screenplay at the Barcelona Film Festival. Shanley also wrote the adapted screenplay for
The long list of his acclaimed plays-- many of which he directed in their original productions-- includesand which earned Shanley a Drama Desk nomination. Shanley’s 23 plays have been translated into 15 languages, performed in 17 countries and receive about 80 productions a year in the United States and Canada.
Company of Fools has presented Shanley’s several times over the Company’s 16-year history and staged a production of in 2008.
This special event will be held for one night only on Saturday, May 21 at 8:00 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. Tickets are $35. Company of Fools' new production of Sarah Ruhl's Dead Man's Cell Phone at the Liberty Theatre kicks off this Wednesday, February 16 with a "Pay What You Feel Preview," where you can literally pay whatever you like for your tickets! There are no reserved seats for this special performance-- just stop by the Liberty Theatre box office one hour prior to the performance to buy your tickets. If you can't make it to the preview, Company of Fools' production of Dead Man's Cell Phone will run through March 4.

It turns out to be a wake-up call that sends her on a date with the dead man’s brother, a drinking binge with his wife, and a mysterious rendezvous with his mistress. An imaginatively comic new play from award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl, Dead Man’s Cell Phone traces one woman’s accidental quest to make a few people feel just a little bit better about themselves. Company of Fools’ production is directed by Denise Simone and features Beth Hilles, Suzanne Gerlits, Duke LaFoon, Christine Leslie, Jennifer Jacoby Rush and Joel Vilinsky.
